Theme: Co-Creating a Data Industry Platform for the Twin Cities
HSODC 2026 is jointly advised by the Digital Policy Office (DPO) of the HKSAR Government and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Data. It is curated by B4B (Hong Kong Big Data for Business Challenge), International Data Port (Shanghai Lin-Gang Special Area International Data Port Co., Ltd.), and SODA (Shanghai Open Data Applications Competition).
This competition offers an excellent platform for outstanding talents to harness open data from Hong Kong and Shanghai and advanced technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence. Participants will develop innovative solutions under the themes of Smart Mobility, Smart Living, Smart Environment and Smart Economy. The challenge offers contestants valuable opportunities to collaborate with top talents, access open data resources, and connect with industry experts across Hong Kong and Shanghai. You are cordially invited to join this meaningful competition that strengthens data industry collaboration between the two cities.
Eligibility:Participants must be 18 years of age or older and residents of either Hong Kong or the Chinese Mainland. Both individuals and corporate teams are welcome.
Important Dates:
- 15 June 2026: Registration and Proposal Submission Deadline
- Mid-June to August 2026: Finalist Announcement, Mock Presentations, and Mentorship Programme
- Late August 2026 (Shanghai): Final Judging, Awards Presentation Ceremony, Corporate Visits, Exhibition and Roadshow
Award and Benefits:
- Finalists will have the opportunity to be sponsored to travel to Shanghai in August 2026 for joining the Final Judging as well as company visits and networking activities.
- Finalists will have the opportunity to be invited to exhibit at large-scale local and Mainland exhibitions such as InnoEX, Entrepreneur Day and Digital China Summit, etc. and/or be nominated to international competitions such as the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA).
