A delegation from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) conducted an in-depth visit to Huawei's headquarters and innovation parks in Shenzhen and Dongguan on Friday, May 29. Organzied by the Office of the Vice President (Research and Development) and coordinated by the Centre for Pre-incubation and Outreach (CPO), the visit aimed to exchange cutting-edge knowledge and practices in AI education, while exploring potential collaborations in smart campus development and technological innovation to enrich participants' academic and entrepreneurial perspectives.
Top-Level Dialogue: Charting a Strategic Blueprint for "Education Technology"
As a hub for teacher education and educational development in the Asia-Pacific region, EdUHK has always been committed to integrating cutting-edge technology into teaching and learning. The visit was joined by a distinguished delegation led by senior management, including Prof Ken YUNG, Associate Vice President (Knowledge Transfer and Sustainability), and Prof Pamela LEUNG, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. The delegation comprised EdUHK scholars specialising in AI, staff supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer, founders of start-ups incubated by CPO, alumni, and students majoring in AI. Mr Donny SIU, Director of CPO, and Dr Lemon KWAN, Director of Knowledge Transfer, also participated throughout the visit.
At Huawei's Shenzhen Bantian Headquarters, the delegation toured the Computing Innovation Lab to witness the latest R&D achievements in AI. At the subsequent high-level exchange meeting, Mr ZHAO Yixin, Vice President of Huawei’s Public Service Business Sector, and MR LU Liang, Senior Director of Huawei Hong Kong Government Systems Department, received the delegation. Both parties engaged in profound discussions on smart campus top-level design, AI-empowered teaching, advanced IT infrastructure, and youth AI education. Huawei shared successful digital transformation practices from mainland universities, providing invaluable strategic references for EdUHK's future smart upgrades.
Immersive Experience: Igniting New Momentum for EdTech Entrepreneurship
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Dongguan Songshan Lake campus, experiencing Huawei's technological prowess and corporate culture. From the highly automated manufacturing parks to the European-style town and the Descartes Exhibition Hall, the team gained deep insights into Huawei's spirit of community integration, excellence, and continuous innovation.
The cross-sector visit proved highly beneficial for EdUHK's entrepreneurial teams. Mr. Cong Liang, Co-founder of the EdUHK startup "Hong Kong Wen Yun Heng Tong," remarked, "Huawei's layout in AI teacher training and youth education aligns perfectly with EdUHK's vision. This exchange has greatly boosted our morale and confidence!" Ms. Chen Yu, Co-founder, added, "Huawei's AI agents and their applications in special needs education provided breakthrough inspiration for our projects. It was truly an eye-opening journey!"

The successful visit has laid a solid foundation for future strategic cooperation between EdUHK and Huawei, underscoring EdUHK's determination to lead in AI education. Moving forward, CPO will continue to serve as a vital bridge, connecting faculty, students, and entrepreneurs with top-tier tech resources. Together with industry giants, EdUHK aims to foster a thriving EdTech innovation ecosystem in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
