The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) has achieved a major milestone in its innovation and entrepreneurship journey by signing two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Zhongguancun Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center and Mininglamp Technology Group. The signing ceremony took place today at the Knowledge Exchange Centre (CKEx) in Cyberport. The Centre for Pre-incubation and Outreach (CPO) is highly pleased to have successfully forged this close connection and facilitated the robust collaboration among the three parties, a pivotal move that opens new horizons for Beijing-Hong Kong mutual integration.
Strategic Partnerships with National and Industry Leaders This three-party alliance brings together EdUHK with two highly influential entities. Zhongguancun, recognised as the core national demonstration zone for independent innovation, boasts world-class sci-tech resources and serves as a vital engine for the nation's technological advancement. Meanwhile, Mininglamp Technology Group, a leading enterprise AI platform that successfully listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in November 2025, brings profound industry expertise in big data and artificial intelligence.
A Breakthrough for EdUHK’s Research and Entrepreneurship The formalisation of these partnerships represents an acceleration for EdUHK in establishing close, deep, and strategic collaborations. By aligning with national innovation hubs and top-tier tech enterprises, EdUHK is creating new resources and opportunities to elevate its research capabilities and entrepreneurship development. This "academia-led, industry-empowered" model ensures that academic research is tightly integrated with real-world applications, driving tangible technology transfer and contributing new quality productive forces to society.
Expanding Student Mobilities and Career Opportunities A core focus of the MoUs is the cultivation of next-generation talents equipped with a national vision. The partnerships will open up extensive student mobility opportunities, including internships and employment prospects in Beijing and across the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Students will have the chance to participate in flagship events such as the "Beijing-Hong Kong Youth Entrepreneurship Cup" and undertake internships at Zhongguancun, providing them with unparalleled exposure to the national innovation ecosystem.
Key Collaborations Outlined in the MoUs The agreements establish a comprehensive strategic framework covering several key areas:
- Joint Research: Co-establishing an AI-Education Integration Innovation Research Centre and conducting joint research in new media and big data.
- Curriculum Integration: Incorporating industry resources into teaching and exploring micro-credential courses that combine theory with practical industry needs.
- Talent Cultivation: Facilitating student internships, employment pipelines, and two-way exchanges of personnel between academia and industry.
- Commercialisation: Promoting the commercialisation of intellectual property and knowledge transfer.
Prof. Chetwyn Chan, Vice-President (Research and Development) of EdUHK, remarked that this collaboration represents the perfect convergence of policy direction, industry demand, and academic advancement. "From joint research and IP commercialisation to the cultivation of cross-disciplinary talents, we are jointly building a future where education and innovation connect seamlessly," he stated.
